The Legion of Mary was founded by a lay person, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit; Frank Duff of Dublin, Ireland in 1921. As you may have seen in the Catholic Outlook November 7, the Legion of Mary is a lay apostolic congregation at the service of the Catholic Church. Its twofold purpose is the spiritual development of its members and advancing the reign of Christ through Our Lady. The Legion of Mary is founded in over 168 countries all over the world.

The Legion of Mary is open to all Catholics who faithfully practice their religion.

You can be either an active or an auxiliary member.

If you are a catechist doing any apostolic work you are fulfilling the duty of an active member. So why not join the Legion of Mary as an active member? More indulgences and blessings will be granted.

If you are praying the rosary everyday, you are fulfilling the duty of an auxiliary member. So why not join the Legion of Mary as an auxiliary member?

A member of the Legion of Mary is sure that many will be praying for them, especially after death.
As an active member of the Legion of Mary, I am able to show my love to our Lord by caring for our neighbours ~ which the Lord has told me to do. I visit my neighbours to help them in their spiritual needs; I visit the aged and the sick. I also take the statue of Our Lady to those who want their homes visited, enthrone the Sacred Heart and the like.
